Psoriasis is noncontagious and it is also characterized by silver-gray scaly patches which can appear anywhere on your scalp, but majorly appear along the hairline.

2). Itching Caused by Seborrhoea Dermatitis: This is a condition of the skin when there is a formation of large greasy, yellow scales which is mostly on the scalp, face, eyebrows, eyelid margins etc. It can also cause itching on your scalp.

3). Itching caused by the Dry skin: Dry skin during winter and fall, the air is dry which can be another cause of itchy scalp.

4). Itching caused by Diet: your Diet intake is one of the major cause of itching scalp, when you have a low deficiency in certain vitamins like vitamin B, D, zinc, and good fats can also cause dryness on your skin and also result in the itchy scalp.

5). Itching caused by Hygiene: Insufficient bathing/washing of the skin or scalp can also cause itching in the scalp, this is due to build-ups of dead skin cells on the scalp and oil which can also cause flaking and discomfort to the scalp.

7). Itching caused by the allergic reaction:  some people are allergic to certain hair product; this allergic reaction also causes itching in the scalp, especially if the person has just switched from one hair products to another.

8). Itching caused by head lice:  head lice can commonly be found in children. They are the parasite which is usually found in the scalp region. It can spread from one person to another.

Here are some of the best natural treatments for itching in the scalp without any side effect to your scalp:

1). Aloe Vera: Using aloe Vera gel to cure itching scalp is one of the best ways of itching treatment, Aloe Vera is well known for its moisturizing properties and also helps in suppressing dryness and itching of the scalp. To apply, take some aloe Vera gel onto your scalp, massage it into the scalp and leave it for 15mins before washing it off with a mild shampoo.

2). Lemon Juice: Lemon juice has an excellent antiseptic property and can also be an effective home remedy method to get rid of an itchy and dry scalp. To apply, get Lemon juice mix with yogurt, massage the mixture into your scalp and leave for 30minutes. Rinse off your hair with a mild shampoo. Repeat the process twice a week.

Alternatively, get a Fresh lemon juice and apply directly to the scalp and leave for a few minutes before washing it with a mild shampoo.


3). Apple Cider Vinegar: It has an anti-inflammatory property that helps in killing the virus and yeast which may cause itching in the scalp. Apple cider vinegar also helps in balancing of pH levels in the scalp which result in relieving the dryness and itching in the scalp.  It’s also an excellent method to get rid of itching in scalp naturally. To apply, Dilute equal amount of apple cider vinegar and water, stir the mixture well and pour into a sprayer. Spray it on your scalp and massage it well, leave for 20 minutes before washing it off with a mild shampoo. Repeat the process two (2) times a week.

4). Tea Tree Oil:  Tea tree oil has an excellent antifungal and antibacterial property which makes it a one of the best natural method to get rid of itching in the scalp. To apply, add three (3) drops of tea tree oil to one (1) tablespoon of vegetable oil. Massage the mixture into your scalp, leave for 15mins before you rinse it off. Use regularly to get rid of itching in your scalp.

5). Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is also one of the effective ways to stop itching in the scalp, it helps in creating a barrier in the scalp, which in turns keeps the moisture locked in your skin and therefore aids in getting rid of itching in the scalp quickly. To apply, massage little quantity of coconut oil in your scalp and hair, cover your head with a shower cap and leave overnight for better penetration. Wash it off next morning with mild shampoo. Repeat the process daily till itching subsides.

6). Baking Soda: It s one of the best home remedies for treating the itchy scalp, it also help exfoliate the scalp. To apply, Mix some baking soda with water to form a paste, and apply it directly onto your scalp. You can use olive oil to first massage the scalp before applying the paste of baking soda. Leave it for 15 minutes for better assimilation, and then wash well with water. Repeat two (2) times a week till itching relief you.
